Screaming fits at night- any advice?

Hello- I'm a long time lurker who would appreciate some sage words!

My DS (my second DC, I have a DD -2.5) is 7 months old. He has never been a fab sleeper - certainly only ever slept through 4/5 times. Is bf and introduced solids around 6 months. Usually feed and in bed by 7/730 and then off to sleep within 30 mins with a bit of shushing and patting. Wakes 2/3 times a night - for a quick feed and then off again.

But last night woke at 1130 pm for a feed and afterward continued to scream at the top of his lungs for 4 hours! My first thought was teething so gave calpol at 1230 ish to no avail. Night before was similar, only screaming was from 8 ish til midnight. Anyone got any clues what this could be?? Naps were a bit hit and miss, but recently been reliably having 2 naps, totalling about 2 hrs - one morning and one afternoon.

He must have only got 5/6 hrs sleep last night but was bright and breezy at 7am - lots of smiles and ready to play!

Any suggestions for what could be causing this or suggestions re what to do would be great. Thanks in advance!!

Hi sleepwalking

No real advice I'm afraid, but you're not alone. I have posted on this thread about my 7 month old, who has been waking a lot between bedtime (around 7pm) and midnight. Like you, there doesn't really seem to be any explanation for it.

It has been suggested to me that evening waking is down to over tiredness, which made sense. However, I really felt like I nailed the naps yesterday and last night was one of the worst.

I'll be watching this thread with interest. :)

Hi Sleepwalking,

How was your night last night? We didn't do too badly.
Thought I was in for a rough one because my DD had been unsettled with teething all day, but I gave her Calpol with her last feed and it seemed to do the trick.

Thanks Metmaid for the reply. Awful night for us. Screaming from 1030-4am. Only stopped if asleep with my boob in his mouth. I'm going to see the dr this morning to rule out other illness! We gave both calpol and infant neurofen!! Glad you had a better night!!
