My 8 month old people is having a sleeping pattern which is making me anxious. While sleeping she keeps moving her head from side to side them it stops and starts again. Has anyone experienced this?

Yes. My dd has always done this and she's eight (years) now! I think it's quite common in babies. It's a comfort thing. I have never heard of anyone doing it as long as my dd. she's great though! Top literacy group and all that!

Yes ds did this as a baby. We forgot to warn a babysitter once and she rang in a panic as thought something was wrong. It seems quite a common way for babies to settle themselves from what I've heard.

My 7.5m does it too but it recently got a lot worse and she was doing it awake too. She looked like she had a twitch. Took her to dr and found out she had ear infections. She was actually noticeably poorly by the time we went to dr, the bad shaking had been ongoing for a few days before.

Ok, I have to admit this to put your mind at ease. I do this. I'm 36. I did it as a baby. I generally do it far less now, maybe one or 2 nights a month if I'm having trouble sleeping. My dh thinks nothing of it, just calls it my 'shaky head thing'. FYI the rocking from side to side makes me feel slightly dizzy and sometimes helps send me to sleep.

Also it's probably more common than you think. I once met a grown up man who did it. No idea how we got into that conversation.

My ds has started doing this (9mo). He is also pulling his ears a lot....think I may check with the gp to make sure no ear infection too. He does it when he's lying on my chest too and often headbuts my chin! Ouch. Oh what a cherub he is?!?!?! Wink

I've actually always had troublesome ears, operations etc. I wonder if my habit developed as abab
