ok..my dd is ridiculously still in her moses basket after failed attempts to transfer to cot over a month ago. i am thinking of getting a custom made moses basket foam mattress made to fit the cot, and putting it on top of the mattress in the cot, to make her feel like she is still in the moses basket.

is there any reason why this would be unsafe, and any reason why i shoudn't do this, or any other ideas? (tried all the usual methods)

Have you tried putting the moses basket in the cot for a bit? Surely it would be just like a mattress in the cot?

yes she is in the moses basket in the cot currently. the feel of the mattress in the cotbed is different (its more like a bed and lasts till she's 4) - and has the feeling of a normal mattress to me - i don't know much about mattresses to tbh

Maybe try googling that kind of mattress? Surely there must be something similar feeling on the market.

Google baby mattresses online - on phone so can't post a link - they can make you any type of mattress is whatever size you want. I would think you'd need to get a foam one made to the size of the cot and take the other mattress out as they can only be a maximum height. It might be the fact that she has so much more space around her than in the Moses basket - have you tried putting a teddy or something in with her so she doesn't feel so alone? We were bought one of those anti roll things when DD was born. I put it either side of her feet when she was little and now she's bigger it's in the right place around her middle. My plan is that she'll transfer to the cot with it but she's not there yet.

thanks... will try look what time of mattress the moses one is and get the same type to fit the cot bed. hope its not too expensive! She already is still swaddled and i have bumper type things to help with the space, am trying toget her attached to a teddy too. if had another baby i would put her in at like 2 months. soon as she hit about 3 and a half months she was super aware of like every single thing and theres no fooling her with anything! she's 7 months now fgs!

I got my crib mattress from that company and I thought they were very reasonably priced. I'll be getting my cot mattress from them too when I get round to ordering it. I really liked their simple pricing structure for mattresses but their flat sheets were crap, shrunk when tumble dried. I'd avoid those.

Hi Jan!

Don't tell anyone but ds has only just moved out of his basket. He is 9m Blush He was kind of wedged into it but it was so much easier as he liked it! He's just stopped being swaddled though and really needed the extra space. So rather than dismantling the cot which is on the top floor I've just put the travel cot up instead. Shame actually - I miss the space we got by using the basket!

Is she still unsettled while swaddled in the cot? Have you tried putting a duvet under the sheet but on top of the mattress? Just to make it a bit softer?

oh button glad im not the only one!! good to see someone i know here too :) :) how did the transition for you go when you used the travel cot?

we don't have a travel cot...and we don't really travel lol but i would buy one for sanity sake...

yes i still swaddle her when i have tried her in the cot still no joy. i didn't try putting a duvet under the sheet, good tip i will try that when her feet start touching the end of the moses basket
