Tell me about your toddlers naptime

16 month DD is finally sleeping better (day and night), however I was wondering what time your similar aged toddlers have their daytime nap?

Up until recently she was still having 2 naps per day (1 about 9am and 2nd about 2pm) but I have noticed that on days where she doesnt have her morning nap she sleeps for longer that night and wakes at a much better time the following morning i.e 6am instead of 4am Hmm.

Please don't misunderstand me, this is not about me wanting to selfishly stay in bed later but obviously when we have toddler group/swimming etc she is extremely tired due to waking at 4am!

So what do your happy nappers do??

DD1 couldn't wait until after lunch at this age, so she tended to have one nap, but at about 11am, for 1.5-2 hours.

She's 3 and still normally has an after lunch nap. Mind you, she goes to bed at 8, up at 7, so she's losing an hour compared to 7-7 children.

Thanks, I have being trying to get her to wait until after lunch but she has being extremely tired so maybe I will try about 11 and see how that goes. She went down today about 12:30 and slept for 2.5 hours so we will see how she sleeps tonight??

I'd recommend trying to push the morning nap back a bit, as if she naps too early in the morning they can sometimes see it as a continuation of the nights sleep. If you push it back she may see it as separate and will start to sleep in for longer in the mornings.

I would try and stick to after lunch thats what we have done with dd who is 14months it brought her early mornings forward a little bit maybe an hour or so later there were times when it was difficult to get her to wait we would sometimes do lunch a little early but she always slept better after eating it took us about a fortnight maybe a little longer to sort it all out, but once she was sleeping that little bit later in the morning it was much easier. Dd now sleeps after lunch she can sometimes wait until 2 for her sleep for anywhere between 1hour and 2 1/2 hours
