Feeding and sleep combinations

I have a nearly 5 mo ds who is exclusively bf. On a good night he wakes up once for food between 2-3am. On a bad night he's awake, a lot. He has also started waking up earlier and earlier (0450 this morning). At the moment he feeds every 3-4 hours during the day.

I'm just wondering if I feed him more during the day (say every 2 hours) will he sleep for longer at night? or will he grow accustomed to getting fed that often and expect it during the night too? I'm thinking anything is worth a go at the moment but I don't want to send my milk production into overdrive if its not going to work!
