DD1 is 2 years 2 months. For the last two weeks she has been totally hsyterical when I leave her bedroom at night. I go in and out, she calms immeidately and actually gets very excited but then starts screaming again when I leave. Is taking a long time for her to sleep and its upsetting for all. meanwhile if the nany puts her down, or DH, or grandparents ie anyone else she just lies down, doesnt make a peep when they leave then chats until she falls asleep.

Issues I have is is she just playing me /having tantrum etc or i she genuinely devastated at me (and only me) leaving (!!). I know its a phase but its draining and am not sure how best to handle it. Advice???

Have you tried just leaving her to it for a couple of minutes & seeing if she starts to calm her self down when she realises youre not going back?? Tough I know & easier for me to say & thats a bit mean!!! Or how about just letting one of the others you mentioned put her to bed for the time being & then when she asks why you dont do it any more explain very calmly the reasons why??
Sorry thats all I have to offer, didn`t want to read & run, you seem quite stressed about it!!

Thanks Nat38 - am a bit stressed as its a horrid end to the day!Tonight I did do the tough love. Fist ten mins was in and out and then left her to it a bit more as she was hysterical for a few mins then calm and happy and then hysterical and then calm so at hysterical times i just popped my head around and told her to go to sleep and that I would be back if she needed me.

Unfrtunately DH works long hours so not around at bedtime, the nanny is only here on the three days when I work (ie Im not here) and grandparents not around on a daily basis.
Sigh
