Winding down...

Just wondered what you do to wind your lo's down ad how much before u put them in there cot? Dd is 9mo and ATM I leave her to play quietly on her own and then sing some songs or read and then play down music while we have a little cuddle rock until she's very very sleepy then I put her down almost Asleep and she's 90% of the time happy to go off with a little bum patting.

Does this sound about right? Sometimes I can see she tries her upmost to fight her sleep and I wondered if I should be doing something else?

Sounds about right as long as it's all very quiet and you're not stimulating her more than necessary. I would just sit in the nursery holding her (not rocking) shushing and whispering things.

If she's fighting sleep, she may already be overtired by the time you're putting her down.
