Am I doing this right??

DS2 is 6mo and has never been a good sleeper. A good night is up two/three times a night, but usually it's a lot more. He has always been swaddled in a miracle blanket, but he's now way too big for it and last night every time we put him down he was out of the swaddle and crying before he could get to sleep. So we decided to bite the bullet and go cold turkey on the swaddle - he is now in a sleeping bag.

Naps today were dreadful compared to normal. And this evening he was down at 6.30 as so tired from not nappying and he is now awake and grizzling. He's not actually crying, jsut grizzling, but I don't know whether to go to him or not. And during the night when do I go? How long do I leave him? I've always fed him to sleep at night - should I stop? I really don't know if I'm doing this properly. I am so exhausted I can't think properly.

Personally I don't go to my dd2 9 months when she us grumbling but I do if they are crying. U try just rubbing her tummy and shushing first and put her mobile on. I hen leave her fir a couple of minutes to see if she settles - if not I will give her milk. If you normally feed to sleep I would stick with it until dc gets used to the sleeping bag. Just change one thing at a time.....Smile

You know when you get so tired you can't sleep? Well I've spent half the night either waiting for him to wake up ot listneing to him grumbling and now I'm so stressed I can't sleep.

This tiredness is getting unbearable and I can't see a way of getting things better Sad

Nevercan thanks. I know it will but when you're in the midst of it it feels endless...

He's back in a modified swaddle and for the first time in weeks he hasn't amde a noise since going down. It feels good.

Hi lookout, I agree, if grizzling then fine to leave be. Sone babies are noisy in their settling down and actually going into check would disturb him from getting to sleep. Really stick with it, in a very short while you will be out the other side and feel very proud of your little one for settling so well x

But what if they grizzle for ages? Still leave them? Some nights he can grizzle for 45 mins to an hour! But mostly the grizzling turns into crying, do I end up going in and comforting. He's much ebtter now he's back swaddled again, I'm just dreading the next attempt at deswaddling (it'll have to be soon as he's just learnt to roll)
