Summer cotbed duvet?

Liskey · 26/03/2012 20:19

Where can i get a 2.5 tog summer duvet for a cot bed? Looked at various websites but can't find anywhere doing one. DD has a 4.5 tog for winter and is now starting to get a bit warm with it.

Thanks

If you are now using it as a cot bed, why bother with a cot bed duvet? Why not just buy a single and done with it? Thats what i plan to do when he goes into his cot bed, its cheaper long term, cos will then go onto a single bed with him?

Liskey · 26/03/2012 21:20

Its still made up as a cot at the momenteven though it can be made into a bed as well. A single duvet would be too big and make it too warm for DD. I've been looking at John Lewis, Amazon etc but can't find any - i tend to worry about DD overheating!

Ah, my little boy (2 in june) is in sleeping bags, cos thats what i always worried about was over heating or getting cold and ill. So i know exactly where you are coming from. Just thought i would suggest it. Have you tried kiddicare.com?

Liskey · 27/03/2012 06:35

No haven't tried there yet - cheers for that!

Tried there. Sad

I'm also hunting a lighter weight duvet as DS hates blankets and always has, but he's now too big for his 1 tog sleep bags in terms of wanting more freedom. And much like me, he won't sleep without PJ's and again, never has.

Lowest I can find in cot bed size is a 4 tog (which is the one that we have) although Mothercare don't have togs on their website. Even John Lewis has failed me! Sad

eBay do have - but a bit wary...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/03/2012 07:12

Dunelm Mill - just got one at the weekend.

CarpeJugulum · 27/03/2012 07:26

Oooh! We have one in the next town.

That's my afternoon sorted! Grin

Thanks KenDoddsDadsDog

Liskey · 27/03/2012 08:22

Thats brillant -well done KenDoddsDadsDog!

I'll be looking there at the weekend then! DD also learnt how to escape from sleeping bags so there's no point getting her more of them.

Do they really sell 2tog cotbed size in Dunelm? I can only find 4tog online.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 27/03/2012 20:27

Yes, I still have the duvet as not on DD bed yet. Will check when she is up. I bought it in store.

OpenMindedSceptic · 28/03/2012 13:14

thank you, will check in store this weekend!

BikeRunSki · 28/03/2012 13:55

Pretty sure ours came from Argos.

KenDoddsDadsDogsBusinessWhale · 28/03/2012 22:46

I'm telling a big fib. I have a 2.5 single duvet from Dunelm. I could have sworn it was a cot bed one but I have picked up the wrong thing. Trip back now to exchange Blush

Liskey · 29/03/2012 19:48

Oh well i'll cancel my trip there then Wink

Phoned Mothercare today to try check what tog their duvets were as its not on the website. All of them are 4 tog except this one:
www.mothercare.com/Fogarty-Cot-Bed-Acclimatiser-Duvet/dp/B006OL678S?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_10&nodeId=44410031&sr=1-10&qid=1333046626&pf_rd_r=0RH5B91FA6YD0N0WWJGD&pf_rd_m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=44410031&pf_rd_p=231490867&pf_rd_s=related-tab-3-5

Its an acclimatiser duvet apparently which hasn't got a tog as its made of wool and which will be cool in summer and warm in winter. I'm now getting desperate enough to contemplate that especially as it cost £35!

I got one from ikea, not too sure what tog it is but it is very light.

tipp2chicago · 29/03/2012 19:56

Depending on what age she is, you could get a 2.5 tog Twinkle Tog from www.dreamgenii.com.

Liskey · 29/03/2012 20:08

DD is 2.3 (though small for her age) but i suspect too old for the pod?
I'm trying to face the thought of a trip to Ikea, its hellish going there! Thanks for that though.

Strange so many places don't do this - obviously a gap in the market - especially as all the research i did into duvets said they shouldn't be too warm as children get so much hotter than adults.

I went to Dunelm today and they only have 4tog for cotbed.
DS room definately too warm in summer for 4tog. Not sure what to do. Am thinking about cellular blanket put inside duvet cover instead of duvet. Would that be about 1.5-2tog?
