Sleeping on his side

My DS is six months and I've recently discovered that he sleeps so much better on his side. Unfortuantely though this occasionally means he wakes up when he rolls onto his back and we have to get up to move him onto his side again. I'm trying not to be paranoid about SIDS and go with the flow. The frustrating thing is that he can easily put himself onto his side when awake but can't do it during the night. Anyone tried using a prop to keep baby on their side? I guess eventually he will be able to roll all over so shouldn't really bother about it.

yep... ds slept on his side from birth as he had breathing difficulties that were better if he was on his side.

i used to roll up a blanket and put it between him and the cot, so he couldn't roll back

I used a special wedge for the first four months with my DD who slept on her side from birth, but you'll probably find your DS is too big for that. He's going to roll over and sleep and all sorts of weird positions soon, so I would just let him get on with it. Mine kept on rolling over in her wedge once she was big enough so I eventually took it away.
