DS has always been a fantastic sleeper and usually goes 7 to 7 with a 2 hour lunchtime nap. We can just plonk him in his cot and he goes staight to sleep and nothing wakes him, even new baby crying. He has a sleepytot with dummies attached.

But last 2 weeks he's been refusing to go to bed and having massive screaming tantrums. It takes us 2-3 hrs to settle him, by which time he's so exhausted he just gives up. He definitely still needs his lunchtime nap as he falls asleep in his lunch and I have to wake him after 2 hrs or he would sleep even longer.

He is teething (second molars) but painkillers make no difference. Still in cotbed so he can't get out.

We just have no idea what to do as he's always been such a good sleeper and absolutely nothing stops him crying except picking him up and cuddling, but as soon as we try and put him down the tantrum starts up again. Anyone got any advice?

Had similar problems when my little one turned 2. It did resolve itself (and although it felt like ages at the time, with hindsight it didn't last that long!)....we are just having problems of a different kind now!!!

At the time I posted a topic called something like '2 year old suddenly tearful at bedtime & in the night'. Sorry I don't know how to link threads but might help to look through some of the responses I got. Good luck.
