Grobags

DD is 7 months and finally having a go at sleeping through, however when she wakes up at 5.30ish (next problem to tackle!) her hands are absolutely freezing. Room thermometer says between 15 and 18 degrees, she's in a long sleeved vest, babygro and then a 2.5 tog bag. Could I put her in one of these all in one fleecy baby gros and the gro bag or will this be too much. Or just a blanket over her? She has a duvet set but not using this yet. Her neck and body are warm but her hands are really freezing, is this ok? Thanks

I just put a blanket on dd when her hands are cold and she warms up Smile

Thanks for that, was just a bit worried that she'd pull it over her head like she used to as a tiny baby. This is her first week not sleeping with us! Not through choice just through us all getting some sleep!!

I would say try the fleecy babygro and bag. If her head's uncovered she shouldn't overheat. Or put socks on her hands.

I used to put long socks on my youngest hands and the babygrow over the top to keep them in place. He would get really cold hands also although it never seemed to bother him.

I did wonder about mitts, must admit the sock trick hadn't crossed my mind!! But she has a dummy at night and needs to be able to find it once she spits it out. I leave a few dotted round at head height.

Tonight she has a knitted wool blanket over her, and we've turned the heating up a bit so will see how she gets on. Might try the fleecy sleepsuit tomorrow if she's cold tonight.

We dress DS (4months) exactly how you describe in similar temps. Also get little cold hands at early morn b/feed. We just use the mitts in built into the sleepsuit (fold over the hands) which do the job without risk of mitts coming off in his mouth (at that age when everything goes into the mouth). Hands stay warm but he doesn't overheat, job done!

Hmm though I guess the dummy issue may crop up if hands are in mitts...

We used to pull the little mitts over when she was sleeping through before the good old 4 month sleep regression. But we've been doing some sleep training and touch wood it seems to be working as it's day 4 now and no getting up with her over night, but when she wakes up over night she does need the dummy to self settle, we'll cross the dummy removal when we need to! I just worry that her hands feel so cold it must be uncomfortable. We'll keep trying different things over this cold snap.
