My 16M old DS has started waking at 5 every morning and I am getting desperate as I cannot cope with the constant early mornings!

Until a few weeks ago he would go to bed at 6.30 and sleep through until 7-7.30 but now he's awake 5-5.30 and ready to play.

I have tried the following:

Feeding supper last thing before bed to make sure he's not hungry.
Limiting daytime naps (but he only has an hour anyway).
Putting him to bed later at night.
Lots of exercise during the day in an attempt to tire him out.

Any suggestions! I am desperate and so tired!!

Omama, can I ask what time you give lunch then?

DD sleeps 7.30/8 to 6am, with a nap from 11-1pm. I give her lunch when she wakes.

Also, what are the sleep books you all read?

Trillian42 DS is 2 and has roughly the routine that you describe. If we're out and about in the morning, I try to get home in time to give him a snack and drink and then pop him into bed and give him lunch when he wakes up.

The hard part is trying to restrain myself from diving into the biscuits whilst I'm waiting for him to wake up!

Sorry for late reply had my hands full with a poorly LO.

Trillian42 - I give lunch at about 11.45/12 now, so right before his nap. When I was pushing the nap later (from its previous 11am) I had to be a bit creative & do a split lunch, or I'd do some toast/a big snack late morning & then he'd have lunch when he woke. Once the nap got to 12 I did an early lunch at 11.30am before nap. HTH.x
