My 5 week old DS goes down to sleep around ten and always by 11 by the time he finishes his last feed (he's bf and ff due to supply issues and has been since day 5 unfortunately). The last 5 days he hasn't woken for a night feed until around 5 which is great and all but it's an awkward time.

I want to bring his last feed and bed forward so he is in bed by 9, hopefully night feed an hour earlier which means getting back to bed for a bit while SH wants him fed and bed later so he down by 11 then he might sleep through to after 6 and then we can just start the day.

I know at 5 wks the situation is likely very temporary and with only 1 night feed we are very lucky so far but wonder what people recommend.

Congratulations on your lo!

Your last paragraph sums it up. You should roll with it and let baby dictate for now. It's important to demand feed. As you say this might be temporary so let it be for now. If this settles into a pattern then you can try tinkering, maybe introduce a dream feed.

Enjoy it! My 3 month old wax sleeping through and is now waking 2/3 times again. Ho hum.

What's your routine like during the day? I don't mean an actual routine, just what's the pattern like. So how long is he awake for in the day before you put him down for a nap, how it works out that bedtime is 9pm etc.

I'm having similar issues with my ds, 8 weeks, we have managed to start getting him down by half eight, but trying to get his last feed timed for close to this is nigh on impossible as his feeds and naps are different every day!!! We either end up feeding him about 10 or 11 before we go to bed or 1, 2, 3 o clock depending on what time he wakes then anywhere from 4am til 6... After which it is highly unlikely that he will settle again, just grunts and writhes around and cries until I drag him into bed with me which is uncomfortable and cold for me so no sleep from early morning ever way!! Ah little babies, they will just do what they want I think!!!

He's still very unpredictable in the day yesterday he slept practically all day up to 5pm today he's had 1 nap since 8.30 thus morning, he's also feeding every 2.5 hours and seems starving I suppose he's still on catch up from his overnight sleep?
