pu/pd

Has anyone got any experience with pu/pd? I nstarted two nights ago and the first night it took 45 mins and second night it took 25 mins, both time I spent the last 10 mins rubbing/patting lo's back to get him to sleep even though he was already asleep. iyswim.

Should I be doing pu/pd for his daytime naps too? Or will he just settle on his own when he's tired once we've cracked pu/pd?
Do I need to close the curtains for daytime naps?

Yes to doing it in the day for naps an for curtains closed too. How does he currently settle for naps while you are doing pupd at night?

He'll sleep in the sling and I'll potter around with him while he's sleeping. It's just so hard. My oh tells me he's proud of me and that he couldn't do it. I really wish he would!

I would try and have all sleep in the cot otherwise he's going to get used to the motion of the sling and expect it at night too.

Presumably he's over 6 months as PUPD shouldn't be done on children under that age?

Yep he's 6 1/2 months. I have carried him around for his naps and to put him to sleep for the past six months, as I'm back at work in april I need him to be able to sleep without me or his daddy.
Also I'm hopping now he's on solids and on 3 meals a day he wont need a feed during the night, although I'm happy to feed him in the night it'd be a lot easier if he would settle in his cot after.

Last night didn't go too well had a phone call and that woke him up so he was wide awake. I thought I'd bf till he was sleepy but I missed it and he fell asleep on me. But he did sleep a few hours have a feed and settled back down without any trouble.
