Crying for me at bedtime (once in cot)

For about a month ago my 2.5yo DD seems to react differently when it comes to bedtime & going in her cot with me leaving the room, she cries/screams really loudly & basically I can't then leave!
I wondered if anyone had any tips/advice?
Before this she was quite good at bedtime & mainly a reasonable sleeper. Her supper, bath & bed routine hasn't changed recently apart from DH does baths with her & I do sit-down showers with her (due to having epilepsy). So as I've been doing a couple more showers a week, maybe she doesn't find them as soothing/settling. We have been bringing her downstairs if she starts crying & we can't even leave her room but that's no good either cos then she doesn't end up going back to bed til 9-9:30pm.
Tonight we took it in turns to try & soothe her but I definitely didn't want to 'give in' & bring her downstairs & fingers crossed she seems to have settled ok!

My ds went thru similar at same age he cried whenever left rm we ended up sitting in the corner of his rm were he could see me I didn't look at him I closed my eyes and stayed for 10mins he then is asleep. He doesnt bother If he wakes in night but is just the initial going to bed. He's also still got a lullaby thing that he had since birth that he likes.

Musso Thanks for your tips! The last 2 nights DH has bathed DD & put her to bed then left her room & not been quiet or tiptoed about but practically thumped downstairs banging the stairgate on the way & she seems to realise he's really gone & settle herself. Fingers crossed it carries on! ;)
