I hear loads about this but still can't really get my head round the sort of things it suggests. Can anyone enlighten me before I hot foot it to amazon?

It's the book for parents who are desperate to get their baby to sleep better but don't want to do controlled crying, or other sleep methods where you leave your baby to cry. It's got lots of ideas about how to do this. It's got a whole load of stuff about logging how much your baby sleeps during the day and night, and the idea is that by the end of all the changes you are making your baby will be sleeping better. It doesn't promise "if you do these 10 things your baby will sleep through the night in a week" but is much more realistic.

...however, don't think it really made much difference at all to DD1's sleep - I think she just started sleeping better when she was ready. So with DD2 we are just co-sleeping as much as necessary in order to ensure we all have as much sleep as possible. And for the last 2 nights (she's 8 months) she only woke up once each night, for the first time ever I think.

Should have added that doing some of the "no cry" suggestions made me feel that I was doing something at least, so that was positive! And I think it would be helpful for first time parents as it gives you all the sorts of things that can create good sleep habits (and you can ignore as many as you choose!).

We started our personalised sleep plan from the No Cry Sleep Solution about 3 weeks ago and have definitely seen improvements already, despite us all being ill and the disruption of Christmas.

The no cry sleep solution is a good book but not magic. The author has some suggestions and is very positive and encouraging, but I fell at the first hurdle, too tired to make sleep logs! Lack of sleep logs is more like it!
