hi inposted a week or so back and we did the controlled crying which essentially did work. But we seem to havedone one step forward three steps back. He has a head cold at mo but not really Ill iyswim. He is refusing to nap in the day and is I'm pretty sure over tired and sleep deprived. Health visitor agrees and says he needs to sleep in day and nights will sort themselves out. She said do same routine after lunch for his nap as at bedtime, story and quiet time and do controlled crying. Eek it's horrible enough at bedtime, but having been up since 1am with a playful 18 month old who is now screamy, clingy and tantrummy cos he's shattered Im starting to feel it's my only option. I've tried everything else, cuddling, soothing, sofa. Nothing works. Even shouting during one meltdown which I'm still feeling crap about :-(. I had to put him in his cot screaming for 5 mins this morning just to get away for a break. Even dp has had enough. Has any of you done cc at nap time? Did it work? I feel such a cruel, crap mum but this hardly any sleeping can't be doing any of us any good. My lovely little boy is someone else at the moment :-(

No answers I'm afraid, hopefully someone will come along soon with some advice but i just wanted to say that you sound like a tired mum, definitely not cruel or crap.

Will he nap in the car or pram instead?

chezziejo · 12/01/2012 20:05

He will yes but I am sometimes so tired I don't like to drive too far. Anyway when he eventually this afternoon after a heart wrenching 50 mins crying he slept for two and a half hour and has gone straight down tonight. Doubt he will go through as he's snotty but it was a relief.
