5 week old won't settle after 2nd night feed, any tips?

My 5 week old ds is sort of moving into some semblance of a routine... Going down between 9 and ten, waking for feed around 2 and then again around 5-6. After the second feed though he doesn't really settle again and go back to sleep. Once back in his Moses there's a lot of grunting, movement and general noise and fidgeting, some crying until he wants a feed again at about half 8/9, I know it's very early to expect a proper routine but was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting him to settle after 2nd night feed? Thanks.

Sounds like a good plan but try to stick DH in the spare room, obviously for his benefit Grin.

It would be in his best interest as last night I could have happily smothered him! Spare room is nursery but couch is nice and big!!

Mine snores too but only when he's really relaxed. Its something to look forward too when he's got a few days off......Grin.

Hm well, last night was very knackering think 6 week growth spurt has kicked in as ds was feeding and waking a lot!! Dh was on sofa...and now I'm bloody exhausted! He is feeding little and often and just keeps falling asleep!! Think he's just gonna do what he wants right now and I've just got to accept it! It does help getting him in bed with me though.

Poor you. If its any consolation the constant feeding will boost your supply no end and I found both of my DC much easier after the 6 week growth spurt.

If you are tired take him back to bed with you and have a sleep or just veg out on t he sofa with lots of (cake, biscuits and chocolate) healthy snacks and drinks and your favourite shows on tv Smile.

He is so young still and it does get better.

Thought you might want to read this and this while you snooze and feed Smile.

Roz my DD (8.5 weeks) has been making ridiculous noises in her sleep since birth and she is right next to me in her cot. I started wearing earplugs a few weeks ago and so only if she is crying does it wake me - DH doesn't wear them but he is a slightly heavier sleeper. Just an idea...

Also, sometimes I put her down and she makes a lot of grunts / burps / grizzles but I think this is just her trying to get to sleep, she doesn't actually cry.

sorry for two posts, baby brain :)
