Sleeping on sheepskin

Wonder if you can help, I can't find any recent information on whether it's safe or not. My dd has been a nightmare sleeper for the last 2 months, up every hour all night until we gave in and brought her in with us. She's 6 months today.

My SIL mentioned the other day that she may be cold and why didn't I try using the sheepskin pram liner I had. Which I've done and don't know if it is this or just luck but dd has now slept through 8 til 7 for the last 4 nights.

However I couldn't just leave it and read an article from 2001 saying it could be linked to SIDS, but didn't know if this was still the common thought. Any advice? Or anyone else using one?

Is it the long fluffy kind or the flat sheep one? I used the flat non fluffy kind on both ds's, and it made them sleep well too, they are 4 and 9 now. In fact ds1 is 9 now and having trouble sleeping so I might get him one in the form of a mattrress cover thing, thanks for reminding me. I am sure She will be fine, have you tried those baby sleeping bags also?

Yep it's the short proper sheepskin type, she's in a vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog gro bag just laid on top of the sheepskin. it's not much bigger than her so I think if she does start rolling, she'll roll off it. A few people have said they've used them but also a few have said they're dangerous!

Just stuck DD (8 months) on hers, but with the sheepskin under her sheet -seemed to be a comfort thing for her as she could sleep on our bed (on top of her duvet) but not on her own mattress - after 2 weeks of non-sleep, we'd try anything! 3/4 nights in and is working.

I also stuck one (fluffy) under DD's sheet - makes bog all difference to how she sleeps :-(
