Expecting dd2 next month - have new mattress for cot but not sure what to do about Moses basket? Dd wasn't in it for long (6 weeks ) as grew so fast, it's been carefully packed away and am happy to clean /Hoover it. But what is best practice? We don't smoke or have any pets so am not sure if ott to buy another .

We bought new mattresses for the cot, moses basket and carrycot for ds2.

We also have no pets and don't smoke, but it was just something that I felt I needed to do. It might have been a miniscule risk but not one that I could sleep with.

Iwish I think I will end up doing same- its not like it's a huge amount and I do worry about bedding ESP when they are very little .

um....we didn't bother in the end. same situation as you but also probably part of the reason i co-sleep with DD half the time!

If you read the SIDS information thoroughly you do not to replace mattresses that have the foam enclosed in sealed plastic covering.

I re-used dd's cot mattress for ds as it had a removable washable cover and the underneath was sealed and waterproof and in good condition with no rips/tears/sagging.
