Too young to just be under duvet?

me and my da (1) co-sleep. He goes under the quilt (tucked under his arms) and i have my legs under his so if he was to wriggle down he couldnt because my legs were in the way.

I allowed mine under the duvet when they were mobile / strong enough to roll over or wriggle themselves if they got too hot or it covered their mouth. My dc is 22 months and cosleeping with us - he is capable of kicking the duvet off both of us! And complaining loudly if he does not get his share of the bed. So I would say a lot depends on your son's abilities at this age, and whether you feel he would be able to raise the alarm somehow if he got too hot or could not breathe.
