Dreading four month sleep regression!

My 13 week old daughter slept really well at first (one or two wakings between 11pm and 7am) but is now sleeping for around 45 minutes at a time at night before waking. This has been happening for about three weeks. She is currently EBF (at first mix fed due to weight loss, then she had one bottle of formula around 11pm, but is now refusing the bottle) and feeding every 1.5 -2 hours in the day, sometimes more often.

I can cope just now but I am worried about the four month sleep regression - is it going to get worse?! Do all babies experience this, is there any chance we'll escape? Do I need to get my husband to book some annual leave so I can get some sleep? Thanks!

My two didn't regress at all. I was very lucky in that they slept through from 12 and 10 weeks respectively and never looked back.

i didn't notice this with my two--they slept slightly better than they had done earlier on.
I put them in sleeping bags and that helped.

I hope that didn't sound boasty- I just meant to reassure you that there's no reason to assume it will get worse not better Xmas Smile

Was your baby prem/on time/overdue? This could be the 4 month sleep regression you are currently going through if baby was late. My hv said the regression times vary...so the 4 month sleep regression could happen anywhere between 3 & 5 months. If that's boloney I'm sure mn'ers will put me (and my hv?!Wink) right. Nothing is completely irreversible and with time and patience associations can be changed.
Oh and just for the record my ds started sleeping better at 4 months....and I'm enjoying it, while it lasts!
Good luck.

Thanks all!

Flowerytale, not boastful at all! Happy for you! Smile

beckieperk She was one day overdue. Of course IMHO she is very advanced! It does make sense that the regression could happen 'early' , maybe we are nearly out of the woods. Glad you are getting sleep!
