CC - when do they stop crying?

So a month or so ago, we went through with controlled crying and it worked. My 10m DS now almost always goes to sleep on his own.

But he still cries every time we put him into his cot, usually for less than 10 mins, and then falls asleep. Is this normal? Am I doing it right?

I don't know what else I could do anyway, but it makes me sad that he cries himself to sleep every night and nap time. Sad

We still co-sleep at 17 months and she does the same depsite me being right there with her - I think some little ones just need to let out some energy by having a grumble to help them sleep. Under 10 minutes isnt going to do any harm.

I went through the same with my DS in September when he was 11 months and he did this too; I think it is part of their learning to settle themselves. Anyway now he just has a little burble to himself and goes off to sleep in about 5 minutes. If he gets overtired during the day he sometimes has a little cry but it is defintiely less than when started the process. So I would say normal in my experience.

Thanks, feel better now. I suppose there have been occasions when he has just gone to sleep without crying. It just seems like a lot of crying over the course of a day, and he cries as soon as he wakes up too.

My mum says it's cos he just likes being with me so much. :)

But when I go in to him it makes him cry more, so I tend to just leave him to it. :(
