From what everyone has said on mn it seems to be a good alternative to cc (which I have been putting off). Are there any books or websites that can offer advice?

there is a book ny elizabeth pantley called "the no cry sleep solution"
It does help, but for us it was a mix of techniques to be honest.
It really helped me understand some things and helped me deal with my ds1 kindly when i was very very tired and frustrated with him

With ds2 i re-read the book and have a lovely little baby who goes down quietly for his naps most of the time and is very good at going to bed at night.
HTH, good luck !

I thought the book was pretty rubbish
About as much info as you'd get in a magazine article

Sorry realised my post was not much help
Brc - where are you? I could mail you the book

The other method is Pick-up, Put-down. Like cc, but instead of just going in and patting their back or whatever and leaving for 10 minutes, you go in when they cry. You pick them up, cuddle/walk whatever until they stop crying. Then you put them down straight away and leave. And keep on doing that. I think, anyway - I'm sure someone will correct me!

This didn't work for us as it requires the baby to actually stop crying at some point.
