8.5mo stopped napping, desperate for help

DS is 8.5 months. He dropped the 3rd nap a few months ago and since then has been sleeping 2-3 hours in the morning and 1-2 hours in the afternoon, goes down awake in cot, no problem. For nearly 2 weeks now he's gone mad. I put him in his cot and he just pulls himself up and cries. I try to cuddle him and he fights and struggles against me and cries some more. Lying down on the bed with him doesn't work. This went on for 4 HOURS yesterday until he finally dropped off in the pram. He's so tired he whinges and cries all day. I'm at breaking point. Is it something I'm doing or is this just a phase?

I would say a phase. Has he just started pulling himself up or is he working on something else developmental?

My DD was really difficult to settle when she started crawling cos she just wanted to be practice it all the time. Also I think they can develop separation anxiety at this age.

It will pass.

I came here about to post the same thing. DS turned 8 months this week, and for the last two weeks has barely napped. He's always been bad at night sleeping, but good at napping. Recently, though, his naps have almost disappeared. Some days, he'll go 9 hours straight with no nap!

Nothing seems to work - walking forever, slinging him, etc etc. He's been crawling for a while, and is trying to pull himself up. I guess this is the 8 month regression. How long does it last?
