Moses basket to cotbed......any tips?

Hi

Im moving dd into her cotbed, first night didnt go well. Her moses basket is a bit too snug for her.

She goes down ok initially but wont settle after night feeds and ends up back in the basket.

Just after any tips.

The cotbed is large, could that be the issue? It has no bumper either?

Thanks

Try swaddling or sleeping bag so cot doesn't feel so big
She will get used to it, don't put her back in basket!
What bedding do you have for her?

Swaddle, put in the moses basket and put the moses basket into the cot.
That way she will get used to the cot from the familiar surrounding/feel of the moses basket. After a while put straight into the cot, swaddled.

Wont do swaddle, hates it, always has.

Got a grobag and is getting on great with that.

The mattress seems harder than the cheap bit of sponge in the moses basket

put a soft blanket on top of the cot bed sheet, as the cot bed might be cooler than the moses basket.

Also, you could try putting an item of your clothing in the cot bed with your baby, so she can smell your scent.

Put her moses basket in the bed for a few nights to help her transition.

Ill try a bit of clothing. Ive got a fleecy blanket on the bottom.

Do they do mattress toppers :)

Put 2 rolled up towels either side of her held down with a sheet, then the arms are flung out she feels something like she did in the moses basket...

Put the Moses basket in the cotbed and let her get used to sleeping in that, then take her put of the actual basket when she's used to it?

How snug? Do you really have to move her now? With DS1 the moses basket - cot bed transition was quite traumatic. He ended up sleeping in his basket in the cot for ages, long past the point where I'd thought that he really was too big for the basket. Every so often we'd try him in the cot bed (no basket), if it was a disaster we just put him back in the basket, but one night it just worked and he was fine.

With DS2 we used the cot bed for naps first, and after a few weeks of this moved him into it at night as well. There was no issue with this transition (although he is generally a laid back little soul, so maybe just a personality thing) - could you try this?
