Not enough sleep for a 4month old?

Hi all, it seems like our 4month old is not getting the amount of sleep that he needs. He sleeps ok at night for a while waking up once before being put back to sleep but after sometimes as little as 6-7 hours he is up which would be alright but he really doesn't sleep during the day maybe just a couple of 20 minute naps and that's it. Our 2y.o sleeps more than our 4 month old at the moment. My wife has changed her diet with no effect and we just can't work out why he doesn't want to sleep, sure he wants to spend time with us but he gets so tired and instead of sleeping just gets grumpy. He as always slept less compared to his brother but it seems like he is sleeping less and less.

He is healthy and happy otherwise so no complaints there it's just the sleep issue, we just want to make sure he gets enough sleep and are not sure he is.

One thing that I have thought would help is if he had a big bottle to fall asleep with but he is not taking to the bottle just yet, it's not major or an issue yet but I could see it helping if he would take to it.

Maybe it's nothing but have others had similar experiences?

Aye, my ds1 slept a lot and I thought ds2 would too - he didn't!

There is also a massive developmental leap around 4 mths which disrupts sleep.

If he is happy and well, don't sweat it.
It isn't hunger, so forget the old school 'big bottle'.

If it is any consolation, ds2 got more predictable and took longer sleeps around 6/7mths.
