swaddling safety

this might sound silly but is it safe to use one of those bonfit miracle blankets to swaddle a baby all night - my ds is coming up to 10 weeks old and really does sleep better swaddled but I am just worried that he really can't move at all in this type of blanket

I've used the bonfit and the kiddopotamus swaddles and had no problems with them. I know it does seem like they're uncomfortable, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be able to sell them if they weren;t safe. DS is now 3 months old and goes to sleep in a grobag, although if he is particularly restless during daytime naps I'll put him back into the swaddle. HTH

Swaddling is a well documented technique - I am sure if there were any associated risks they would have been flagged up. I swaddled my ds until 6 months and have been slowly weaning him off it over the last week or so. If your ds sleeps better swaddled then I would keep it up.

yep, i use bonfit and it works a treat. i leave her in it to breastfeed - saves her putting her hands in the road as she used to do.
