Screaming at bedtime

Until very recently my 9mo went to bed without any problems. She'd have a bath at 5.30, a bottle at 6 and bed at 6.30. I'd place her in her cot with her comforter and her dummy, read her a story and once I'd finished she'd put herself to sleep.

In the last 5 or 6 days however she has screamed the moment she's put in her cot for bed (naps are not as bad as bed). Nothing I do, aside from getting her back up to play makes a difference and so I've resorted to just leaving her to cry herself to sleep as I have no way of comforting her and going in to try and sooth her just makes things worse. On average she's asleep within 30 minutes but I usually spend that time in tears too as I hare hearing her cry. Does anyone have any experience of a good sleeper going bad or ant ideas as to what it might be and what I can do to make it better. I literally dread bedtime now knowing how much stress and tears it causes!!
