I used to be able to rock and sing my DS to sleep and then lie him down on the bed, lately however he seems to see bedtime as a great laugh, refuses to be held and rocked and just wriggles and tries to get away. If I put him down he then proceeds to leap about, pull himself up and last night did a pratt-fall from the pillows of the bed onto my belly! Even though he is tired and we have done the whole bath book routine.
I put him into the cot last night (He's never really slept in there) until he calmed down but then he got upset (not surprising, he probably sees it as a prison) so I took him out and fed him and he drifted off to sleep. I am a bit worried that I did the wrong thing putting him in the cot as if I was punishing him as I don't want him to see it as somewhere horrible or for some kind of punnishment.
What do you do (not controlled crying please) if you don't use a cot but your DC has turned into a wriggler? Am I going to have to give up my evenings and spend them trying to calm down an overactive baby or should I just take him back downstairs to be with the family until he's more tired?
