someone i know put there baby from newborn straight into a normal toddler bed....they have always slept fine in it (now 3) my DD is now 12 monthes....and i am wondering whether is better to make the transition earlier or later????

Has anyone else found it easier to get them used to a toddler bed at 12 mo???

MY dd sleeps in her big sister's 4ft bed (she's ten months) (her sis is my stepdaughter so only here at weekends). she refuses to go into her cot! At weekends we try to get her into her cot, but she usually ends up in our bed. Bit of a nightmare actually.

Don't see the point of toddler beds TBH - just buy a best quality single mattress and stick it on the floor - I did that from about 8 months.

i must admit i am not sure I like the idea of DD going into a bed just yet, when she is in her cot she is trapped with no toys and the likelyhood of her going back to sleep after waking up at 5am is more likely...as opposed to getting up and playing on the floor in her bedroom!

There was a thread a few weeks ago similar. My nephew did and they didn't get a full night's sleep for years.\link{ www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=67&threadid=127517&stamp=051206200418\here}. A recently mobile 1yr old may well not understand the concept of stayign put as easily as a 2/3 year old .

here sorry

I too think toddler beds are a waste of money! Ds went straight from cot (when I say 'cot' read our bed!!) into a normal divan single bed at 18mths. Going to do the same with dd in a couple of months time. But a newborn in a toddler bed??
