Sigh A5 - at the grand old age of 21 months. She did have the rare night of sleeping through before then but they were few and far between.

D5 although not deliberate. In the early months of pregnancy i couldn't stand the night feeds so sent DH in for every waking. I expected to go back to night feeds once I'd got over the first trimester but DS stopped asking (only when he was ill)

He slept through (ie no wakings) just before 12 months but only twice then we got proper consistent sleep throughs at 15 months? Then regressed now back to sleeping again (23 months) although have the odd night waking some nights - think it might be molars.

CharCharGabor · 30/08/2011 20:12

E5 for both. DD1 night weaned herself at 20ish months and slept through fairly reliably from 2. DD2 I don't think will ever sleep through, she's 18 months and I haven't moved past taking 2 hours to go to sleep and crying all night :( (as in really crying all night, not waking for a feed and going back to sleep, just screaming and thrashing).

peanutdream · 30/08/2011 20:14

D5 as I was ill. Didn't want to go back after that so said that milk at night was 'gone' which he didn't seem to really mind. Still wanted a cuddle. Eventually slept through at 16 months - 7-7 ish without a peep woohoo. Very good now. Does wake up for a cuddle and a drink of water here and there although don't find that as draining as feeding him - maybe not having to make all that milk?! Don't really mind. Am happy as he is a pretty happy camper as toddlers go so don't mind comforting/reassuring him if he needs it once in a while. Perhaps 16 months of night wakings have set me up for a life time of waking at night anyway. I think that I have slept through once since he was born Hmm.

'Sleeping through' generally a big fat red herring as far as I can see Grin.

Another E5

Wholelottalove · 30/08/2011 20:19

DD was A 5 - about 15 months I think when she'd reliably do 7-6ish (I stopped BF her at 9 months)
DS is E-3 and showing absolutely no signs of going through, still feeds multiple times through the early hours. Going to give it a little longer as DD really started sleeping better at about 10 months, but will then try and do PUPD if he doesn't sleep on his own.

I think co-sleeping might be part of it - I co-slept/sleep with both - with DD really by accident, with DS by design. I'm tired but ok with things at the moment, however this might change when I go back to work.

LifeOfKate · 30/08/2011 20:20

A3, DS started sleeping through about a month after he started crawling (7 months) and nightweaned at the same time :)
DD is only 9 days old at the moment, so we'll let her off for being an E1 at the moment Wink

JoinTheDots · 30/08/2011 20:23

E5 here

CombineArvester · 30/08/2011 20:24

A2 and E5. Odd isn't it? And have CC'd and PUPD the little sod til my ears bleed. Ah well.

BalloonSlayer · 30/08/2011 20:24

What's PUPD?

Confused
nethunsreject · 30/08/2011 20:26

A2
E5

CardyMow · 30/08/2011 20:27

DD - C5

DS1 - C5 (+++, he was 4y9mo when he finally slept through!!)

DS2 - A1 (7 weeks - I thought he was dead most nights after the first two!!)

DS3 - E3 - He's 7mo, still wakes for 2-3 feeds a night major milk monster)

Thing is, by the time they are 6yo, 90% of children will be sleeping 'through' (whether for 6 hrs or 12hrs). You do honestly forget how sleep deprived you feel at first - for me it was the hardest thing about having DS3 after a 7y gap - I had got far too used to sleeping through the night! But I know that DS3 will also do so eventually, so I don't feel so worried about it with him.

nethunsreject · 30/08/2011 20:28

Balloon, PUPD is pick up put down. Tracey Hogg's method of hugging till they stop crying, then putting down, repeat as required. Not my kinda thing, but horses for courses I guess.

Shipscat · 30/08/2011 20:29

Benroo, DD is 20 months Blush
I was very disciplined with her brothers (DTs), and stopped night feeds at 9 months (and they weaned at 19 months), but she's still keen to feed in the day, and feeding her to sleep is quickest and quietest Smile
I have the NoCry Sleep Solution book, and I keep meaning to try it, but I can't quite bring myself to do it yet!

MadeInChinaBaby · 30/08/2011 20:49

D5, I hope!
DS is 20 months and just last week I moved into the spare room at night. The first night, DS was pretty unsettled and whiny, but nothing major. Since then he's been sleeping through, from 8pm to 6am Smile Smile Smile. At 6am, he comes to me for a lovely long feed. I don't know how long to leave it before I rejoin them so we can all sleep together again, though. For now, I feel floaty with all this extra sleep - I had totally forgotten what deep sleep felt like!

marimo · 30/08/2011 20:54

D3, kind of by accident. Lots of blips and now getting up at 4am. Weep

BenRoo · 30/08/2011 21:02

Thank you all for your answers!
Very interesting!
I have personally tried most things, spend most of my waking day/night (I.e ALOT of blooming time) trying to find the key to more sleep, for everyone in my household.
Our latest, current, tactic is DH settling our DS until 12 and then I take over which often ends up in me giving in and feeding to sleep. We're shattered.
DS is sleeping at his Nannas (MIL) tmrw night for the first time to 'see how it goes' and so we can get more sleep?!?!? (not convinced I will) And I don't mind telling you I'm feeling guilty already and very nervous. Oh and dreading MIL's backlash of I told you so comments,IYSWIM Hmm
The more people I talk to,the more I'm beginning to realise that A) it may never happen or B) it will just happen without any intervention.Wink
Crazy, tiring days but also the best and most rewarding Grin

Good old Nanna, who cares about the comments, she will have to deal with the night! [cackle]. Sleep sleep sleep, Benroo :)

CaptainMartinCrieff · 30/08/2011 21:07

C/D 4

roundthehouses · 30/08/2011 21:10

D5 - night weaned about 15mo iirc but we only really stopped him coming into our bed (anytime from 11pm-5am) at about 3.5yrs.

ds2 is 6mo and still wakes well regularly..

aledwasago · 30/08/2011 21:13

My 8.5 mo dd is an E3 - I'm lurking on various threads to find the magic solution....

mollyscarlettmum · 30/08/2011 21:20

DD1 & DD2 both D4
DS1 A2

twinklegreen · 30/08/2011 21:26

DD1 slept through at 6 weeks-13weeks then woke up once a night until 8mths, then has slept through ever since. (now nearly 6)

DS slept throught 3 weeks to 12 weeks then woke up all the time a couple of times during the night until about 2 years old then still wakes up quite alot (nearly 4)

DD2 slept through from 6 weeks to 10 weeks then woke once a night until 13mths now sleeps through every night (nearly 2)
