Thinking about co sleeping

Pretty much what it says in the title, although I wouldn't have ds I'm bed with us I'm looking at a co sleeping cot to attatch to the side of the bed, but they all seem really expensive does anyone have any recommendations?

The NCT do a small range of attaching cots but they're quite expensive (around £200 I think). Have a look online.
I co-sleep with my lo and wish I never bothered with a Moses basket. There's a lot of research that suggests co-sleeping can reduce the risk of SIDS if done properly and certain rules are followed (eg no smokers, breastfeeding, not under influence of drink/drugs, no duvets).

I co-sleep and it's great as I get a much better nights sleep then I might have otherwise. I don't use a co-sleeper cot though I just have my baby in bed with me and it's fine, plenty of room although DP might disagree!

DS, who is now nearly 3yrs slept with us until he was 18mths. I started out with him sleeping next to us in a basket but he never settled so when he was a couple of weeks old I gave up and brought him into bed with us and found out that he slept much better so by the time DD came along we just put her straight in bed with us and since birth she has always slept well.

She is 6mths now and I'm starting to think of putting her in a cot beside our bed as I'd like my bed back and because she is such a good sleeper but I do enjoy cuddling up to her in the night, it's very special and it doesn't last for long!

I got this one www.boots.com/en/Cosatto-Close-to-Me-Bedside-Cot_120225/ and it's great. Have to wedge a rolled towel in the side though as we had to pull the mattress over the base of our bed a couple of inches to make them match.

I'm told ikea cots can just have a side taken off easily and then can be used in the same way.

We used the Bednest co-sleeping cot until DD was five months. It was rather expensive, especially since outgrown after 5 months, but well worth it. DD went from waking up 5-6 times per night in her moses basket to 1 time per night in the bednest, so we all got a lot more sleep! We are now using an ordinary cot with a drop down side placed right up next to our bed, and so far this is also working well. We had originally tried co-sleeping with DD our own bed, but although she slept well I spent the whole night waking up in fear of rolling on her.

Thanks for all the advise, dh is of work for a few days so going to get him to have a go at building one, we have 2 cots to play with. As for sleeping in bed with us it would be so lovely but we get very hot and I also am terrified I would squish him!

Could you not take one side off the cot and sit it next to your bed if you can get the mattress to the same height as your bed?
