How do I get dd to nap in her cot?

dd is 14 weeks. She will only fall asleep during the day if I 1) fees her to sleep, 2) wear a sling or usually 3) take her out in the car. None of these result in my then being free to get on with the things I need to do (like look after the other dcs, eat, housework etc. She wakes up if I try to put her in her cot.

She's too young for cc and I'm too much of a softie anyway. Screams blue murder if left awake in her cot to drift off on her own.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Dh is hardly ever around(working long hours) so no use asking his help. I need to be able to do things round the house.

If you didn't have other dc I'd say go with it, wear sling, let her sleep on you etc But ..... At around 14/15 weeks my ds still wasn't sleeping in cot and only on me or a sling so we bought a baby hammock, where we could rock him to sleep when drowsy/after bf. It created a problem further down road around 7mnths when he was used to rocking but he did adjust to cot after a while then.

Good luck

Mine's the same. I figure he will just develop and get the hang eventually, for the first 6 weeks or so he would only feed to sleep and be held, now he will be rocked and sleep next to me, and this week he has started sucking his thumb so fingers crossed that will help.

My house is a tip btw, I even resorted to paper plates last week when DP was out for a couple of evenings in a row :o Sorry this doesn't help you much but I dont think there is an easy answer, otherwise we would all be doing it already!!

Hope you get a break soon.
