Sleeping through the night

My little boy (3 in november) has started waking during the night. It started with him jumping out of bed putting the light on and running through to our bed. It was a novelty at first so we didn't mind. It then turned into waking up and crying so we would go through and lift him and bring him through to us. He would fall asleep instantly. I decided at the weekend that it was becoming too much of a routine and we should settle him back in his own bed. He is now waking a few times a night, sometimes 3 or 4 times an hour. I tried to ignore his cries, then he starts complaining about a sore eye, back etc. I asked him if he had sore teeth, he said he has as well as sore toes!! We are now very tired and grumpy with no end in sight. Any advice would be gratefully received.

As he is old enough to discuss it, how about some kind of reward chart for every hour he stays in his bed? Gets a sticker for each one and all the stickers add up to something he wants? A whole night in own bed equals a big treat too? My DD is only 10 months but I can't wait to try this sort of thing, so I hope it helps!

Thanks, I had thought about the reward idea and luckily I have a reward chart in the house so will perhaps try that night and see how we go.
