13 mo night waking/feeding

DD is 13mo now and has been ill on and off for the last month with rubella and colds etc. The upshot is, she wasn't eating well during the day and was waking at night for a bottle of milk. Now we can't stop her. This also conincided with her going onto cows milk rather than formula.
We tried just giving her formula for her last bottle and we've tried controlled crying for the last week, but she still wakes between 3:30 and 5 for a feed and last night made herself sick from being so hysterical every time we tried to put her back down. She's so tired she falls asleep in our arms as soon as we've fed her but wakes when we put her down.
I'm at my wits end, me and dh aren't speaking because I'm such a grumpy cow-bag and it's all getting too much now. HELP PLEASE!!! I am tempted to buy a sleep book but what if they're rubbish and don't work?

DD is 22 months and slept through with out a feed for the first time last week, we tried evrything inc controlled crying ending with her being sick then just as we gave up she did it by herself. Good luck and i hope you get a whole nights sleep soon.

That's good to know, I hope dd does that too, but now rather than at 22 months!

have you tried diluting the milk with water?

if you do this gradually over a couple of weeks, she will not be getting so many calories at night and theoretically at least take some more in the day. and by the time it gets really watery she may feel its not worth waking up for.

we did this with ds and it has worked to a certain extent, he's eating much better again, still wakes up for a drink of water but he just needs a sipa nd then he's away again.

its just knackering never getting a full nights sleep isn't it?

what time is her last bottle??
have you tried a dream feed?? giving her a bottle before you go to bed...

I am going to try diluting the milk over the next week or so. Her last bottle is at 7, and if she hasn't had much to eat during the day we give her a bottle when we go to bed, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, she wakes regardless.

We try to wear her out physically before bed, but that's hard without getting her over excited. I have aged about 10 years in this last year alone!
Is it worth me trying a sleep book? Routine is good for her but doesn't always work anyway.
