Anyone know where I can get an alarm clock-type-thingie that plays ocean/rain/nature sounds? Does anyone have any experience of using something like this as a sleep aid for a baby?

Both my children have one. Fisher Price does a 'fish tank' (Ocean Wonders I think its called - funny, I've seen it every night for the last two years and now my dd has one too and I couldn't tell you what it was called exactly!) one and you can buy it for about £15/20 (can't remember exact price) in Argos. It has 4 tunes and 3 different 'water' noises. On the front there is an ocean scene and you can also set it for lights to fade in and out and water to bubble. Both go to bed listening to theirs and if my ds wakes in the night (usually from his crying sister) he just hits the on button and it soon sends him back to sleep. We wouldn't be without ours - they are wonderful!

Ooh, sorry Tatties - didn't read your thread properly. These aren't alarm clocks...not even a clock actually. Just noises or tunes but are designed specifically as a sleep aid for babies.

Oh larlylou, that's great I will check it out. I only mentioned alarm clock because I had seen an alarm clock for adults years ago which would let you wake up to the sound of waves or birds twittering. Wouldn't mind finding one of these but if they do ones for babies that's probably better. How positively cute that your ds puts his on himself - awwww
