Controlled Cried!

Last night, I did the controlled cried again! My son Ryan (8 months old) is waking up for his dummy or milk or habit of waking up in the night!.

So i decide to do the CC. He woke up at 11pm, 2am and at 4am, so i left him cried at least half a hour on the 11pm and the 2am. He evenally fell asleep without his dummy or milk.

The 4am - 5.30ish one, was a nightmare. He scream his head off at least over 1 1/2 hour. So i gave him some water, he drank at least 5oz of water.

Did i do the right thing by giving him water?
I am sure he was hungry, as he didn't eat much at all yesterday! I stayed strong and keep going to him every 10 mins or so.

I really hope this CC work for me and Ryan. As Ryan has become a terrible sleeper for weeks now, i just don't want to give up on CC.

Any advice to improve his sleeping?

Hope everyone is well!

Natalie

By the 4am one, I would probably have given him milk... what time is his last feed?

I'm terrible at that time of night though and always give in to anything I swear DD knows that that is the best time to try me for anything

can sympathise!!ds is also 8 months old and just started waking at 2,4 and 6 for no apparent reason after previously sleeping through. he would be wide awake and wanting to play, and would have to be rocked for 30-45 minutes to put him to sleep.

2 nights ago i decided to try cc as dh and i are walking zombies. i went in and picked him up at increasing intervals, but clearly he was even more distressed each time i put him down, so i decided to leave him to cry. Took 1 hour in all (and almost a request for divorce on grounds of cruelty from dh!)for him to fall asleep at 11pm. he slept right through to 530am.

lastnight he went to sleep ok, but woke at 4am. i picked him up after 10 minutes and after putting him down, he cried for 2 minutes then fell asleep and woke at 7am. yippy!! my black eye bags are receding already!

heres hoping that he doesnt wake tonight. it feels so awful when you do it, but fingers crossed it seemes to be working. hand in there. oh, if he has been crying for more than 10 minutes then i give ds water as i'm sure his sore throat will keep him awake too. i never feed between 11pm and 6am, hence the several weeks of pacing and rocking!

last night Ryan only woke up once in the night, at 3am. He cried 20 mins, then fall back to sleep till 6.30am. Better than waking up 4 or 5 time a night for his dummy or milk

I know it will take a week to do the CC, hopefully he'll be sleeping through.(fingers cross)

I thought Ryan was going to cried for england last night, like Sunday night.

I will see what tonight bring!

Love

Just as a warning Controlled Crying can sometimes go backwards - ie you feel you've cracked it then they start trying even harder (crying for longer) - you have to stick with it when they do that and then they will learn - it takes up to 3 weeks to learn a new habit but mainly it works within a week

I think giving water is fine

Things are improving a lot. I am having a decent night sleep at last.

He's only waking up at night once now, but i don't goes to him. After 5-10 mins or so of crying, he fall back to sleep my himself.(before i use to give him milk or his dummy)

This morning, he wake up 5.50am so i fed him. Sleep till 8.30am. I am doing ths CC to the, end of the week, hopefully he will sleeping through (fingers cross)

Take care
