My ds is 16 months and has stopped sleeping in the morning and now wants to nap in the afternoon. I have tried putting him down at 12.45 etc but have had no joy then as soon as we go out in the pushchair at 2 he is asleep within minutes so I am going to put him down later.Anyway he used to sleep at night from 7pm until 7.30-7.50am now he is waking at 6.55am. Is this a phase? we've gone from 2.5 hours of sleep in the morning to 1 hour in the afternoon and less at night.......

Hi Malachismum

one sleep during the day is all he needs - at about 12.30- 1pm depending on his sleep needs of course. Can range from 1 - 2 hours.

7pm - 7am is 12 hours sleep and wonderful! Amazing that he was doing more

At this age the more he does at night the less he will want during the day.

Its quite a drastic drop isnt it. Well thanks for the reassurance. I now have to change his afternoon activities to morning ones!

My DS is the same age but hes still on 2 sleeps a day (totalling 1-1 1/2 hrs). Has one at 10 am and one at 2 pm (before the school run).
I tried to change him to 1 sleep a day (at lunchtime) as it would fit in better with our days but he wasn't having any of it! I hoped it would be one big long sleep but it was a short 1/2hr that left him grumpy every teatime.
His nights stayed at 7pm-7am.
