Bed time for 8 month old

DD sleeps through the night about 5 nights out of 7 at the moment and comes into our bed on the other two when she wakes. She does sometimes get up onto all fours in the evening and cry a little but is easy to settle then. She goes to bed at about 7pm. We do a routine of nappy/nightclothes, milk, books and songs and then try to put her down. Then things turn difficult - she often cries and needs holding until she is nearly asleep or asleep. It probably takes about 15 minutes, which isn't long compared to many people, but I find it really frustrating and would like her to self settle in her cot. Occassionally crying makes her vomit. Her daytime naps are in her buggy. Any ideas where to start to make bedtimes less stressful?

Honestly? Seeping through 5/7 and taking 15 mins to settle is amazing, I personally would not change a thing right now. Is there a wake you can make the process less stressful for her so she does not cry until she vomits though? Maybe a longer wind-down period? Or perhaps books and songs are too stimulating at this age, maybe just gentle songs? But seriously I wouldn't muck about too much once you have got rid of the vomiting!

Hmm, I thought that might be the case. I think the issue is my patience rather than her settling and I might just have to get over that.
