So, What's Waking Him Up?

My son is nearly 2. We co-slept until about a month ago when we put him into his own bed. The transition was unbelievably easy. Surprisingly so.

However, now he's waking at just before 5 every morning and won't go back to sleep. His room is pitch black. We live on the 6th floor at city centre so I doubt it's the morning chorus. Also, noise never wakes him during the night. I have actually dropped heavy things in his room (by mistake, obviously) when he's been sleeping and he hasn't even stirred.

So, any ideas what could be waking him?

dd1 has gone through lots of early waking phases.
sometimes dropping, or limiting naps has helped.
sometimes though, nothing has Sad.

See, that's what I was afraid you were going to tell me!

And I've tried dropping naps, limiting naps etc etc. He still wakes up as dawn breaks!

Is his room cooler at that time?

I don't think so Iggly. But that's something we can certainly look at!

The other thing to check is whether light could be comin through his door in the morning? We have to shut the kitchen door - in the morning the sun streams into DS's room through the door edges, although the window is completely blacked out.

Final option is that you just have to wait until it passes! We've had similar wakings with DS which come and go. No idea if anything we do works Confused

Hmm. Maybe from the spare room as the door is usually open. We have turned off the nightlight in the hall.
