Is there such a thing as too much sleep?

6 week old DD sleeps for HOURS. I have to wake her to feed her most times. She's always been pretty sleepy(MW said we had to wake her every 2 hours to feed when we first got her home), but this week (especially today) is longer than normal.

I know about milestones and growth spurts but I think she has only been awake for roughly 3 hours today since 7am - I've woken her for every feed (roughly 3 hours apart) she takes 6 ozs-ish, stays awake for 30-45 minutes max then goes off again. Dr says to leave her to sleep but I'm worried she'll never wake up if I don't give her a prod (change her nappy) every 3 hours or so and offer a bottle.

During the night, she'll normally take a bottle at about 10pm, then will murmur a bit (but not actually wake up) from 2ish until I decide to wake her up properly and feed her. I've experimented with waiting to see if she wakes up properly and have lasted til 6 hours until I woke her.

She always takes her bottle quite hungrily, it just seems odd to have to wake her for it. When I was pregnant I was fully expecting to be feeding on demand - problem with DD is she doesn't seem to ever demand - is this normal?
