Tummy sleeping?

This may well be a daft question, but HV's scary leaflet waving did a number on me apparently Grin

My 6mo DD has recently started rolling onto her tummy every time I put her down for a nap. When I put her back onto her back, she rolls back over straight away, and short of sewing Velcro to her sleep suits, I'm stumped.

All the cotdeath leaflets etc said that babies should always sleep on their back, is this the case just for newborns or should I keep trying to get her to stay on her back?

I know I sound a bit PFB, but please be gentle :)

after 6 months you can let them find their own sleeping position so if she rolls over now, just leave her

i was always lead to believe once they can roll front to back and back to front they can be left to sleep how they like. but then everything seems to have changed in the 7yrs since i had my baby!

this is from the sids website:

My baby keeps rolling onto his front. What should I do?

If your baby is less than six months old and you find him sleeping on his tummy, gently turn him onto his back. Don?t feel you need to keep getting up all night to check on this. Whatever your baby?s age, always place him to sleep on his back

Once they can roll I think you leave them to it.

Thanks for the advice, I think I can stop manhandling the poor child and leave her if she's comfy now Grin

Hi ladies,
I might get stoned to death, but my lil man (7 weeks) hardly sleeps in any other position but on his back!!
He was able to turn his head at around two weeks and I always make sure I watch him closely, but I believe that it is better on his tummy than on his back as when he is sick, I fear he can choke!!
I tried to put him on his back to sleep but he always wakes up and in those 7 weeks has fallen asleep on his back maybe twice!!?? In fact, as I am writing this, he has just woken up because he was lying on his back...
