Mum's Insomnia - Link to PND?

Does anybody know about (or has experienced) a link between PND and insomnia. NB Not insomnia caused by broken sleep patterns due to baby - just plain old fashioned insomnia that seemingly appears from nowhere...? I also experience panic and anxiety. My baby is 14 months old. Thanks.

Dear Jus
You give the impression that you are suffering from PND. If that is true, then insomnia could well be a by product or symptom of PND. Are you being treated for PND at all, or do you just feel really lousy? (Yes, I know that not sleeping makes you feel lousy anyway!)
Talk to your HV or GP about it; they should have some ideas or recommendations in respect of the insomnia and the panic attacks too.
I suffered from PND, and came close to a breakdown due to a non sleeping baby which mucked up my sleeping patterns for about 2 years, but I think it was the lack of sleep that contributed to the PND in the first place!
If you are able, fill us in a bit more with how you feel, and what help, if any, you've tried. I'm positive that someone here on Mumsnet will be able to help!
