Napmonster drops morning nap!

DS has always been a real struggle with sleep, has just at 9 1/2 months started sleeping through the night but now the morning nap is only 50% successful.
He only ever has 30 mins at a time, on a good day he naps at about 8.30am, after lunch and then late pm, (although the late afternoon one is not a given).

He is very high-maintenance when he is awake so I cherish my few minutes of time in the day and don't want to give up the morning nap!!!

Question - he is usually tired after 3 hours awake so is it worth going to 2 naps, one late morning and one mid afternoon? Has anyone tried this? Or do I just need to accept he is going to drop the morning nap and hold out until after lunch?

Thanks for any advice!
