Self settling at 9 weeks?

I put my 9 week old down in her cot an hour ago with her eyes wide open - it was bed time and she seemed quite contented although not particularly sleepy. We've been popping in to check on her, and she was lying there waving her arms about with her eyes open for ages - she's only just closed them. Is this normal?!!

My DS is nine weeks and he can't seld settle yet. He needs to be cuddeld to sleep. He can fall asleep in the car and occasionally in his pram but not in the house. Don't know about other peoples DC but this sounds the same behaviour mine exhibits although mine would not close his eyes he would start crying for a cuddle Smile

My ds is 10 weeks and will do the same, but start crying after a while for a cuddle. Before this week we could put him down in his cot after his last feed and he would go to sleep, but now he cries until we pick him up!
