Sleeping on front

Hello
My 8 week old has been suffering with reflux AND colic now since she was born. Getting her to sleep for long periods at a time has been a NIGHTMARE and myself, dh and my 2 year old have all been suffering.
When she was really titchy I sometimes put her on her front and this would really settle her but then I stopped doing that because of HV's advice. Today I spoke to the doc who actually suggesteed that I put her on her front to settle her providing all other factors in the room were correct. I took her up to bed earlier and put her on her front and within 5 mins she was fast asleep - unheard of! Problem is I am upsatirs like a yoyo worrying my head off and don't know whether I will sleep tonight. She finds it very hard to settle on her back - well basically she doesn't settle and every night ends up sleeping on me - on her tum.
Should I just go with it and get one of those breathing sensor monitors or should I persevere with her on her back? My Mum keeps on telling me that we all slept on our fronts and we are hear to tell the tale!
Any advice would be really appreciated!!
THanks

ok sleeping on the front does increase the chance of cot death. that is a fact
However... if it the only way she will sleep then I have to say I would do it. Only you can make the choice.. and it's all about limiting the risks at the end of the day.
I think that maybe one of the monitors would be a good idea, it would put your mind at rest for one!

I think at the end of the day if baby is more comfortable and sleeping well then that is what really matters...

my dd slept on her front from about 3 weeks. She would never settle on her back, i used to worry and constantly check on her but she was always fine, like your gp says all the other factors were ok and i was so desparate for sleep (as was dh and ds1) she started sleeping through not long after. Its really up to you maybe a monitor would reassure you.
