DS (9 weeks old) not settling in his cot

Any advice please?

My DS is 9 weeks and ebf. We have been co-sleeping for a few weeks and he gradually started not to wake up every 90min for a feed, it?s more like every 3 hours now.

After his bath he would go down in his cot from 8pm to 11.30pm (very peaceful sleep most of the time), and then I would take him to my bed for the rest of the night. I am trying now to put him in his cot after 11.30pm as well, but the past 2 nights have been difficult to say the least (we have turned his cot into a co-sleeper bad by removing one side, so he is within arm?s reach and I can stroke his head or his tummy). I feed him, but when I put him in his cot he is stretching continuously and grunting and generally seems very unsettled. When (if) he settles, it?s never longer than 45 mins (length of a deep sleep cycle I guess?)

I don?t want to stop co-sleeping totally, I still want to take him to my bed in the morning, I enjoy cuddling him and waking up next to him, but I also want him to be used to his cot. Any suggestions on how I could do this gently? At the moment when it gets too bad I am taking him in bed with me as I feel so bad watching him grunt and stretch all the time. I am also wandering if he is distressed when so unsettled (although he is asleep through it).

Does anyone have any experience of this? TIA
