Warm nights

now the nights are getting warmer I am not sure about what to do for my nearly 5 month old DD. She uses a sleeping bag (tog 2.5) and I have just ordered a 1 tog sleeping bag as well. Our house gets very warm at the back in the afternoon and evening and her room is at the back. I have started shutting the curtains quiet early to keep it as cool as possible but not sure what is best to put her to sleep in.

It is very warm at 7pm when she goes to bed but then in the night it will obviously get cooler (although certainly not cold). I have stopped putting a vest on her but am putting her in a babygro. I am concerned that this is still too warm and that maybe a vest on its own would be better but am worried that she will get cold in the night.

If this all sounds rather pathetic, then sorry! I do worry about overheating and her being uncomfortable though.

Hi!

I have a 14 week old and he is generally a very hot baby. Right now it's about 25 in London, he is only wearing a vest and he is covered in heat rash :( . Anyway, our room hits about 22 at night so I'm putting him in along sleeved t shirt, no legs, and a 1 tog bag. Tonight I might do short sleeves too, it's so hot.

It's so hard to know, isn't it!

Ds is in 1 tog with long sleeved vest no legs at the mo. I would think 2.5 tog and a babygro would be too warm. Do you have a room thermometer to check the temp?

WorrisomeHeart · 22/04/2011 19:07

We're in hot London too and our DS's room gets full sun in late afternoon so is baking. At the moment the thermometer in there is reading 25 degrees. The last couple of nights he's been in a short sleeved/short legged onesie and a 1 tog sleeping bag, but tonight he's just in the onesie and no sleeping bag and we have a fan on a timer in there too. Crazy that it's so hot in April, it's going to be murder in July!

Yes tonight our thermometer says 25. It's really worrying me after all the SIDS advice :( . Anyway, tonight he is in vest and thin sleepsuit and no sleeping bag at all. But I think the bag is a sleep cue so no doubt he'll be up all night!

Have gone tonight for a short sleeved vest plus 1 tog sleeping bag, fastened at the shoulders but left undone round the legs so I can zip it up later if it cools down. DD 7mo but can't roll (otherwise this wouldn't work as she would get all tangled in the undone bag!). 24 deg in her room atm.

Our thermometer says 25 and DD is in 1 tog sleeping bag with long sleeved vest......

DS was in a 2 tog last night and was sweating when i fed him. Tonight he's in a long sleeved sleepsuit and a 1 tog.

Boy last night just had a sleepsuit and no vest or bag. The room is about 21-22 degrees overnight. I changed him at 4am and it had dropped to about 17 degrees and he had cold legs so I put his bag on.

Going to do the same again tonight. Rather he wakes because he's a bit nippy than overheats.
